The Squirrel's Nest, LLC- There are antiques abound in Summerville and the town has some true gems to peruse if one knows where to look. One such shop, The Squirrel's Nest, is tucked away at 110 West 9th North Street just off North Main Street. This little shop is owned, operated and artfully stocked and arranged by Michelle Louk, a woman with an eye for subtly creating an inviting atmosphere presenting numerous pieces to examine without giving the impression of clutter or too much to take in.
Before one even reaches the door of the shop he or she is met by a courtyard of statuary and delights that calls one to come, sit, relax and drink in the serenity of the garden atmosphere in oversized rockers and wrought iron furniture. Immediately one begins to envision how lovely it would be to take home one of these pieces to enjoy under the shade tree in his or her own back yard.
Louk provides a continuously changing selection of goods for the home and garden that could be one week, mostly shabby chic furniture and the next, down home farm style; today antique china, Waterford or silver, tomorrow a signed Kovax or Summerall, Griff or Fouche painting.
The interior of the shop allows one to unhurriedly look through the various rooms and take in all the antiques and reproductions or a pleasing mix of both found in some new pieces fashioned out of older wood affording the practicality of something new and the look and feel of a genuine antique. The Squirrel's Nest offers handmade treasures as well, such as decoy birds, small notion boxes with delicate detailing and fabulously constructed walking sticks all crafted by local talent. Changing inventory can be reviewed at www.squirrelsnestllc.com. The term "something for everyone" comes to mind while shopping "The Nest."
